February 2009 CABIN FEVER ISSUE Vol 2,Issue 2

Photo Contest

Ok, so business is a little slow, the weather is cold and damp, and, if you don't start that diet soon, you will never get into that bathing suit this summer. Well, since you aren't doing anything else why don't you go through all your event photos, organize and sort them. And by the way- send some to the Total Table newsletter and win some money!  Yes my friends the contest is on for February and some lucky shutterbug will win a $100.00 Visa Gift card.  Will it be you? Only if you send us a photo of our tablecloths partying like this one from Barb King at Valley Forge Flowers.

MAKE POSTCARDS

Now, since you  already have all the photos organized why don't you make some cool oversize postcards to send out to your clients?  It is easy, ( I did it myself, if that is any indication)  just upload the photos and add your text. Then all you have to do is get your mailing list ready because they will arrive at your doorstep within the week. I use www.overnightprints.com  and have been very happy with the quality, price and turn around time.

Make A Presentation Book

I have to give credit to Barb at Penncora Productions for this idea. She made a fabulous presentation book that looks just like a coffee table book, in fact they call it book-store quality printing. Again, upload your photos and create your text.  You might think this is similar to the books you can create at Shutterfly or the camera shop but it is different.  It is so much better and the website offers so much more in the way of marketing. Once you create your book not only can you order copies to hand out but your book is online and you can send visitors to view it. You can build your own buzz and even sell your book . Now there's an incentive to take those event shots! It is very cool and if you are the least bit creative you should definitely check out this site:  www.blurb.com  I may just do it for fun to show you how easy it is and then send you all there in the next newsletter. I realize that I may be the only one really and truly interested in seeing a book about tablecloths, but I'm OK with that.

The above photo shows our newest Harlequin Sheer Pattern, which is available in 9 fantastic colors. Your color card will be arriving soon. Go out by the mailbox and wait.

Summer will come

AAAHHHHHH - I can actually smell the suntan lotion. Remember, it will get warm, people will have parties and it will be summer before we know it!

Always Have Your Camera

How many times have you been at your event and it looks so great that you just want to take a photo of it, but darn, you didn't bring the camera?  Too many times! So let me help you out.  First, you need a camera that is lightweight, small, takes great photos and is easy to use.  A camera that is great at wide and telephoto range and a camera that can get in close and do some macro shots like the above flower. I have done the leg work for you and the camera is the Sony Cybershot. The model I have is DSC-H10, with 8 megapixels, 10x optical zoom and a great macro feature. It is small and lightweight enough to take everywhere, and the photos are fabulous. Well, actually, I like to think it is me but it's probably  the camera. The good news is that it is less than $280.00. I would recommend that you purchase an extra battery (keep your charger handy) as the only short coming of this camera is that the battery is only good for about 2 hours. And the only thing worse than not having a camera to take those fantastic photos at your next event is having a camera with a dead battery. Remember, people can't see your best work if you don't take a picture of it and show it off. You have to promote yourself!
